Party Finder works best when the listing answers the questions a player would otherwise ask after joining. State the activity, objective and expected readiness clearly. A fast invitation is not useful if the group discovers at the entrance that members chose different modes or do not meet the current requirement.
Choose Recruitment or Matchmaking
Use automatic matchmaking when the activity supports it and the goal is a normal clear with standard role assignment. Use a recruitment listing when the group needs a specific objective, practice run, achievement, difficulty, route or schedule. The exact menu labels can change, so read the current activity panel rather than relying on an old screenshot.
Friends who already share a server and faction can form a party directly; the play-with-friends guide covers friend invites and channel alignment. Party Finder is mainly for filling open places or finding a group with the same purpose.
Write a Useful Party Listing
Keep the title short and put the decision-making details first:
- activity and mode;
- clear, learning, achievement or repeated-run objective;
- roles still needed;
- any schedule or language expectation;
- whether the group is forming, traveling or ready to enter.
Do not advertise requirements the activity does not need simply to make the listing look selective. If experience matters, say that the group expects familiarity with the route or mechanic. Avoid promising a guaranteed clear or drop; preparation improves the attempt but cannot guarantee the result.
Check Eligibility Before Joining
Open the current activity panel and compare its displayed entry conditions with your character. Check story or quest access, Item Level, role, party size and remaining entry or reward state. Requirements may differ by mode and update, so a number copied from an older guide is not a substitute for the live client.
Prepare equipment, consumables and a workable skill setup before requesting an invite. If you do not understand the activity category, review the PvE overview before joining a listing marked for an experienced clear.
Confirm Roles and Readiness
After the party fills, the leader should confirm who will tank, heal, handle priority targets or perform any assigned interaction. Players should state early if their current build cannot perform the role shown in the listing. A class name alone does not communicate the active setup.
Run a short ready check before entry:
- Everyone is online and outside a conflicting solo instance.
- The intended mode and objective are visible to all members.
- Required roles are present and understood.
- Members have repaired, organized inventory and prepared consumables.
- The leader confirms entry only after every member responds.
Lead the Party Clearly
The leader sets the pace, marks priorities when necessary and pauses after a replacement or disconnect. Before the first pull, explain only the mechanic that can immediately defeat the group; long unstructured explanations are difficult to remember. Add the next instruction at the relevant point.
If the party fails, identify one cause and propose one change. Replace vague messages such as “more damage” with an observable action: switch to the add, interrupt a cast, wait behind the tank or leave a ground effect. The combat basics guide provides shared language for targeting, movement and roles.
Handle Disconnects and Replacements
When a member disconnects, stop before starting the next encounter. Give the player time to use the current reconnect flow, then check whether the activity permits a replacement. Do not assume a new member can always enter the same progress state.
If someone leaves, update the listing so applicants can see the open role and current progress. Tell the replacement whether bosses or rewards have already been completed. Transparent information reduces repeated departures and prevents the group from entering with a misunderstood objective.
Party Finder Etiquette
Join only when the listing matches what you intend to do. Reply to the ready check, follow the agreed route, and say when you need a short pause. If the objective is not what the listing described, ask once for clarification; leave before entry if the mismatch cannot be resolved.
A good party is not defined by silence or perfect play. It is defined by a shared goal, clear roles and quick correction after mistakes. Those three habits save more time than repeatedly rebuilding a group without finding the original cause.
