AION 2 Mounts Guide: Souls, Types and Collection Progress

Mounts combine travel, appearance and account collection progress. The global 0.0.4387.0 snapshot records 207 mounts. A mount unlock requires collecting 5 souls, so a single soul drop is progress toward an unlock rather than the finished mount.

Five Mount Types

The roster is divided into Fera 65, Natura 48, Varian 46, Cogni 41, and Special 7. The four regular types have type-stat progression, while Special mounts are treated as appearance and collection entries in this snapshot. Type bonuses grow through type level 10 and can open up to nine option slots.

Because type progress aggregates collection investment, an inexpensive soul that completes a mount may be more useful than chasing a rare appearance with no near-term milestone.

Sources and Unlock Planning

The recorded dataset gives 163 mounts at least one monster source marked as guaranteed, while the remaining entries use sources such as random shops, boxes or chests, and currency shops. “Guaranteed” describes the recorded source condition, not travel time, eligibility, respawn access or a promise that every kill awards five souls at once.

Start with sources you can verify in the current client. Track soul totals by type, and avoid buying a duplicate until you know whether excess souls contribute to another progression step.

Type Levels and Options

Check which type is closest to its next level before distributing limited currency. A type level can matter across multiple mounts, while an isolated cosmetic purchase may add only collection progress. Up to 9 option slots are recorded, but the unlock order and exact benefits should be read from the live mount panel.

Do not assume Special is stronger because it is a separate category. In this version it does not follow the same four-type stat pattern.

Efficient Collection Routine

1. Confirm that a source awards souls for the exact mount entry.
2. Prioritize mounts close to the 5-soul unlock threshold.
3. Compare progress toward the next type level and collection milestone.
4. Use guaranteed, repeatable sources before expensive random sources when practical.
5. Recheck event and shop rotations rather than relying on an old source list.
