A stat is useful only when it improves the result your build needs. AION 2 combines equipment, skills and permanent progression into several character values, but the largest-looking number is not always the best upgrade. Diagnose the failure first, then choose the stat that addresses it.

Start With the Outcome

If attacks miss or are resisted, more theoretical damage will not fix the rotation. If you die to a mechanic, a small offensive gain may never be delivered. If healing or skill use runs out of resources, smooth recovery can outperform another burst stat. Use combat feedback and repeated encounters to identify which limit is real.

Stat names, formulas, caps and effectiveness can change by version. Read the current client tooltip and compare the before-and-after character sheet for the exact item or node.

Stat Groups

GroupWhat it supportsWhat to observe
Attack and skill powerBase damage or healing outputConsistent change across a full rotation
Accuracy-type statsReliable hits against the targetMiss, evade, block or resist messages
Critical statsChance or strength of critical resultsAverage over many actions, not one lucky hit
Defense and healthSurviving direct and unavoidable damageWhether the same mechanic becomes recoverable
Evasion, block or resistanceAvoiding or reducing eligible attacksWhether the encounter actually uses that attack type
Resource and cooldown supportRotation uptime and recoveryEmpty resources, idle time and skill alignment

Physical and magical roles may use different offensive or defensive checks. Do not equip a stat merely because its rating is high; confirm that your class and skills can benefit from it.

Diagnose in Order

  1. Access: meet any Item Level requirement for the activity.
  2. Reliability: solve frequent misses, resists or rotation interruptions.
  3. Survival: live through expected mechanics without exhausting the healer.
  4. Sustain: maintain resources and cooldown flow for the full fight.
  5. Output: add damage or healing after the earlier conditions are stable.

This is not a permanent ranking. Once one problem is solved, the next point may be more valuable elsewhere.

Compare Two Items

Remove stats your class cannot use, then compare relevant primary stats, secondary stats, sockets, enhancement state and set effects. Include the cost of moving or rebuilding upgrades. Test both pieces against the same target if the result is close. Item Level matters for entry, but the gear progression guide explains why an access upgrade and a combat upgrade are not always identical.

Avoid adding every percentage together as if all values share one formula. Some effects apply at different stages or only under a condition. The character sheet and repeated combat tests are safer than an assumed calculation.

Role Priorities

  • Damage: reach reliable contact with the target, then balance output and rotation uptime.
  • Tank: meet survival needs for the encounter, maintain control, then add damage that does not compromise the role.
  • Healer or support: stabilize healing, resources and required utility before chasing personal damage.
  • PvP: value control resistance, mobility and defensive responses according to the opponents you face.

Skill choices can change stat value. Review the Stigma guide and Daevanion board guide after a major build change.

Practical Test Method

Change one variable, keep the target and rotation constant, and record several attempts. Note misses, critical frequency, remaining health or resource, and completion time. Ignore one exceptional result. If the change does not improve the intended outcome, restore the previous setup and investigate another bottleneck.

Build stats around evidence from your character, not a universal list. Meet access requirements, make the rotation reliable, survive the encounter and then optimize output.
