The Abyss is AION 2's signature PvPvE zone — and even pure PvE players need to go there, because its shop sells progression materials you can't efficiently get anywhere else.
Unlocking and the Time Limit
- The Abyss unlocks through the post-campaign progression (around the 1,000 Gear Score point).
- Your time inside is limited: you have a usage allowance that ticks down while you're in the zone — including while AFK. Never idle in the Abyss; get in, do your business, get out. The allowance resets periodically.
Earning Abyss Points
- Killing enemy players and participating in faction objectives
- Sieges (roughly every 48 hours): factions fight to hold portals, and holding one unlocks a timed kill-event that rains Abyss Points
- Command scrolls: weekly kill-quest scrolls from major-city and Abyss-base merchants — activate several at once since their kill objectives overlap and share progress
- Supply Requests: trade spare boss/world-boss legendaries for large point payouts
- PvE farming inside the zone (quests and mobs)
What to Buy First
The Abyss Trade Shop's standout rewards:
- Stigma Shards — upgrade your Stigma skills, a major Combat Power gain with no Gear Score cost. Community consensus: these are irreplaceable, so buy them even as a PvE player.
- PvP Daevanion Crystals — level the PvP Daevanion board (feather turn-ins in the Abyss push it up to rank 15), which grants stats that count in PvE too.
- Command scrolls — cheap, and they multiply your point income on later visits.
- Cosmetics, skins and medals — buy only after the progression items are secured each week.
Feathers here too
The Abyss has its own Empyrean Feathers and a Monolith. If you're short on Amulet scrolls, fold Abyss feather turn-ins into your visits.
Survival Tips for PvE Players
- Go during off-peak hours; the zone is open PvP and enemy factions hunt there.
- Complete objectives near your faction's base first, then push deeper as you gear up.
- Group up — a solo player is a target, a party is a deterrent.
- Remember the clock: plan your route before you enter.
