Enhancement is AION 2's core gear power system. Open it with N or via the menu, spend enhancement stones and Kinah, and push each gear slot higher. Here is how to do it without wasting materials.

The Basics

  • Enhancement is guaranteed to succeed up to about +9/+10 at lower tiers; beyond that the success rate drops and costs climb steeply.
  • Every attempt costs enhancement stones + Kinah, with costs rising per level. As a rough community benchmark: taking leveling blues to +5 costs around 1,500 stones in total, while +10 runs about 4,000.
  • The two numbers that matter: Gear Score (gates content) and Combat Power (what party finder groups check). Enhancement raises both.

Slot Priority

Not all slots are equal. The community-agreed order at level 45+:

  1. Weapon — biggest damage per stone.
  2. Guard (secondary weapon) — same logic.
  3. Bracelet — the Ascension bracelet from the main story.
  4. Everything else.

Belt and Amulet are forever

The Noble Belt and Revelation Amulet are permanent progression items. Push them to +10, then use Substance Morph to raise their rarity tier, then push to +10 again. Belt scrolls come from Strongholds; Amulet scrolls from turning Empyrean Feathers in at your faction's Monolith.

Never Lose Your Investment

Two safety nets most beginners miss:

  • Extracting enhanced gear refunds the enhancement stones — you mostly lose only the Kinah. Rule of thumb: extract anything +5 or lower when replacing it.
  • For +10 unique gear, use Substance Morph → Transfer Stones instead: they carry the enhancement level and soul-bind bonuses onto your new gear. Don't extract high-value uniques.

Common Mistakes

  • Over-enhancing leveling gear. Pre-45 equipment is replaced fast; enhance lightly and stockpile stones for endgame pieces.
  • Ignoring manastones. Socketing adds stat lines and Gear Score — use cheap Lesser stones on leveling gear (aim for 2-3 green rolls), save Intermediate/Superior for endgame.
  • Gambling clash runes early. Rune upgrades past +1 can fail and destroy the rune — keep two +1s equipped and only gamble with spares.
  • Hoarding bound materials. Bound Wisdom Stones and Daevanion Crystals in your consumables tab do nothing until activated — spend them.

For what to do with the gear you've outgrown, see what to do with old gear.
