A recipe is more than a list of ingredients. It belongs to a profession, has a required mastery range, produces a specific quantity and may sit inside a longer chain of components and upgraded results. Plan from the desired final item backward so that intermediate crafts do not consume resources needed elsewhere.
The Five Recipe Families
| Profession | Common recipe groups |
|---|---|
| Blacksmithing | Longswords, greatswords, daggers, maces, guards and metal components |
| Armorsmithing | Armor slots and armor-related components |
| Handicrafting | Bows, staves, accessories and crafted decorations |
| Alchemy | Spellbooks, orbs, potions, serums, scrolls and manastones |
| Cooking | Food and drink with temporary combat or utility effects |
The main crafting guide explains profession progression and the success gauge. This page focuses on reading and planning recipes. Always use the live crafting window for the exact materials, mastery requirement and output in your current region.
Read the Whole Recipe Card
Before crafting, verify the output name, grade, quantity, binding rule, required profession and mastery level. Then expand every ingredient that is itself crafted. A finished weapon may require an ingot, a profession tool and monster materials; counting only the last screen understates the real cost.
Use the Source button or item tooltip to distinguish gathered materials, merchant supplies, monster drops and crafted components. Check whether identical-looking bound and unbound versions are accepted by the recipe. Do one inexpensive test craft before committing a full stack when the interface is unfamiliar.
Understand Recipe Grades
Recipe lists commonly include Common, Rare, Epic and Legend results. Grade is not the same as automatic value. A higher-grade item may demand substantially more materials, a previous crafted result or a rare component. Compare the finished item's actual stats, options and binding state with the equipment you already own.
Some recipe lines repeat a base item at several quality steps, including Expert, Artisan or Splendent variants. Treat each displayed entry as a separate recipe and follow the dependency tree shown by the current client. Do not buy a similarly named component until its tooltip matches the required input exactly.
Work Backward from the Final Item
Start with the exact item you want and write down the final quantity. Expand its crafted components one level at a time, multiply each material by the number of attempts you expect, then reserve merchant fees and profession tools. This backward method prevents a common mistake: using a rare component to make a convenient intermediate item that cannot continue into the intended recipe.
If success is not guaranteed, keep a buffer rather than assuming one attempt. The crafting screen is authoritative for the current probability and consumption behavior. A market price can also change while you gather, so compare the value of crafting, buying the final item and buying only the bottleneck component.
Match Materials to Acquisition Routes
Gathered ore, gemstones, wood, herbs and other resources connect recipes to Essence Extraction. Refined components may come from an earlier recipe, while special monster materials and currencies may come from separate activities. Use the gatherables guide to identify resource families before starting a farming route.
Keep a small reserve of universally useful materials. Selling every low-grade component can force you to buy it back when a higher recipe reveals an unexpected dependency. Conversely, do not hoard a version-sensitive specialty material without checking whether your chosen profession actually consumes it.
Choose Recipes by Goal
For progression, compare the final item with your next dungeon, quest and exchange alternatives. For profit, calculate the complete material cost, failed attempts, fees and realistic sale price rather than looking only at the highest listed price. For profession leveling, prioritize recipes that use accessible materials and still award useful proficiency.
Consumable recipes can offer repeat demand, but inventory and buff rules matter. Equipment recipes have larger individual value but can be replaced by drops or become less attractive after a patch. The safest choice is a recipe that serves your character even if it does not sell immediately.
Pre-Craft Checklist
- Confirm the profession, mastery and exact output.
- Expand every crafted ingredient and total the full material chain.
- Check grade, binding, quantity and success behavior.
- Reserve enough materials for failures or higher-tier dependencies.
- Compare crafting with current quest, dungeon, shop and market alternatives.
- Craft one test item before processing a valuable stack.
Recipe data can change with balance and economy updates. Recheck the live client after a patch, especially for ingredient counts, profession requirements and items with several similarly named variants.
