AION 2 Crafting Guide: All 5 Professions, Combo Crafts and Best-in-Slot Gear

Crafting is not a side activity in AION 2 — the top of the gear ladder is crafted. The best weapons and accessories in the game come from player professions, upgraded through multiple rarity tiers. Here is how the system works.

The 5 Professions

Profession	Makes
Blacksmithing	Melee weapons (greatswords, longswords, daggers, maces) and guards
Armorsmithing	Armor: chest, legs, helms, pauldrons, gloves, boots, cloaks
Handicrafting	Ranged weapons (bows, staves) and accessories (necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets)
Alchemy	Spellbooks, orbs, potions, serums, scrolls, manastones
Cooking	Food and combat-buff consumables

All professions can be leveled on the same character; each progresses independently. Open the crafting window with Alt+G or from the menu, and craft at tables in major settlements.

How a Craft Works

• Every recipe uses the same Success/Failure gauge system as Essence Extraction: the first gauge to fill decides the result, and materials are consumed either way. Even high-skill crafts can fail.
• Successful crafts have about a 25% chance to trigger a combo, producing a higher-rarity Splendent version.
• Higher-tier gear is chain-crafted: you need the Splendent version of each tier to craft the next (base → green → blue → gold). The final gold craft can itself come out Splendent — the true best-in-slot — and a non-Splendent gold can be upgraded later.
• Getting hit while crafting causes automatic failure.

Leveling a Profession

• Each profession has 100 levels: Novice 1-50, then a promotion quest unlocks Professional 51-100.
• The standard leveling method is spam-crafting the cheapest base material of your profession to 50.
• The crafting window's Source button shows where each material comes from (merchants, nodes, mobs).

Advanced Systems

• Transfer Crafting: move an item's enhancement level and soul-bind bonuses onto new gear — essential when upgrading tiers.
• Substance Morph: convert materials into other types (Odyle can become anything) or turn spare unique gear into Transfer Stones and Sync Stones. Never simply delete unwanted uniques.
• Crafted accessories can roll +1 levels to actual skills, including your main damage skill — a large part of why crafted gear is best-in-slot.

Which Profession First?

Community consensus for early value:

1. Alchemy — constant demand for potions, scrolls and manastones; steady Kinah.
2. Handicrafting — accessories are where the +skill rolls live, and several classes (like Chanter) craft their own weapons here.
3. Blacksmithing / Armorsmithing — your own weapons and armor.
4. Cooking — useful buffs, easiest to level, lowest profit.
