On this page

The Chanter is AION 2's battle-priest: a melee fighter with party-wide support abilities. This page describes an example support-DPS build for its listed regional version, not a measured boss-DPS ranking. Class basics: Chanter overview. Playstyle comparison: class tier list.

Build Summary

  • Role: support / melee DPS hybrid
  • Stat focus: Attack with melee substats; the reference build stacks Attack Superior (PvE) manastones
  • Weapon: Staff (reference build: Archon Praetorian Captain Staff)

Playstyle Notes

  • Your mantras are the job. Personal damage is the bonus; party-wide buffs are why groups want you. Keep mantras active before optimizing your own rotation.
  • Your mantra does not stack with a Cleric's PvE damage buff — one buff leads, so coordinate rather than overlap.
  • You fight in melee: apply the same positioning discipline as Gladiators, and don't face-tank mechanics meant for the Templar.

Gear Priorities

  1. Staff first. Notably, Chanters can craft their own weapon via Handicrafting — pair the class with that profession and gem gathering for a self-sufficient loop (see crafting).
  2. Attack Superior (PvE) manastones for endgame sockets.
  3. Belt and Amulet remain permanent progression — see gear enhancement.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths: party-wide buffs make you welcome everywhere, real melee damage on top of support, strong in group PvP/Abyss, can self-craft weapons.

Weaknesses: jack-of-all-trades damage ceiling below pure DPS classes, and your value scales with group size — solo play uses only half the kit.
